Ami's Story
I need to find the time to reread this whole thread, because working on the Ami storyline has always been my deepest wish. At the moment, however (despite my raging heart), I think Ami needs to be put on a back burner as far as development and planning.
After making some consultations, however, in relation to Ami I would like to reopen a pre-JD discussion about taking away Ami's "tutorial" role and giving it to a new character.
I'll start a new thread on that topic once I get it fully elucidated, hopefully with some accompanying line art.

Oddly, I like the half and half idea as far as tutorial and comedic romance with Ami. The problem is finding the right way to portray that. What I need to do this weekend is sit down and replay the entire game to see what is and isn't needed. Like Crunch said, having an actual "test date" would be useful (Revised Hang Out #2). Also, Ami's initial introduction could be a bit heavier to leave a bit more breathing room later on. It seems like taking bits and pieces from the various Hang Outs will work but I've got to see what will will fit in the most organically in the overall story.
we could have an introduction where AMI shows you around the school. Basically, each time you hover over something in the school, Ami will say something (text bubble). It would look almost the exact same as the current school introduction, and then she could leave you, you oogle Akira, and Akira ends up taking you to the fighting tutorial.
Though I do believe for the fighting tutorial aspect that there be a means for people who are vets can skip it by clicking on a location or something... and not spacebar because that is too easily pushed by accident while fighting. :P

hey guys i know im new on these forums and my opinions dont have much weight with u guys but i believe that ami storyline has to gradually grow from friendship into love now what i mean is ami stars off :D as a tutorial girl like usual but we insert i a few scenes that go with the regualr storyline ie what one of u guys said about ami teacching the main character what to do on a date and she blushes during the kiss sequencebut have more of those moments idk what they will be but i will leave it to the experts :D tall of these moments acuulamte in the end of the game to realising that ami likes the main character and vice versa and to tell u the truth i never like ami original ending with fighting sim man

but if i remember correctly Amy realize pretty late what her feelings to the player are

Evangelion has it right. In Ami's diary and in the cutscene detailing the final study session Ami gets jealous when she sees the player and Kotomi talking. That's the big turning point for her as far as the diary goes. So yeah the chance to date her would be incredibly late at around Day 75. So a new method to unlock real dates with her much earlier would be a wise idea.

Well, you can talk, flirt, and even date before then, I think, but only as friends. Not sure what to set the kissing button up to do in that case though.

Nice and simple. I like it that way. :) So far however, the school isn't very big (or at least what the player has to deal with isn't). I know there have been discussions about changing it but I'm not so sure that's really necessary. One question though; Will Ami still show the player around the town map?

Yes, its still planned. Maybe even for 5.1. By 5.2, i'm sure.
